Meet The Board
Beth Bear- Chair
After living in California and Montana, I have called Laramie home for the last 19 years. I have been on the ACSD#1 School Board since 2018 and have served as Treasurer, Vice Chair, and Chair. I have a blended family with 5 teenagers, ranging in ages from 13 to 16. Most of my time outside work and school board duties is spent running around to watch them in their sports and activities. I have worked for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department for the last 19 years and currently supervise a statewide aquatics crew. I feel incredibly lucky that my kids are being educated in ACSD#1 and am grateful to serve on the school board.
Carrie Murthy - Vice Chair
Trustee Carrie Murthy grew up in rural Pennsylvania and Maryland, and has lived in Laramie for 17 years with her husband Sid. They have two kids, a 6th grader at LMS and a 3rd grader at Slade. Carrie is an avid runner, and in her free time, you can find her coaching the Laramie Valley Jackalopes youth running program, or out on the Pilot Hill Trails running with her dog Raju, a LAWS rescue.
Nate Martin - Treasurer
Nate Martin is a fourth-generation Wyomingite, born and raised in Rock Springs, who is proud to call Laramie home. Nate has a background in journalism, communications, and as a wilderness guide. Since 2017 he has been the executive director of Better Wyoming, a statewide grassroots nonprofit that engages residents in the civic processes that shape their lives and our communities. In his free time Nate enjoys reading, woodworking, and hunting mule deer.
Janice Marshall - Clerk
Laramie has been my home for 46 years. My four children were all born and raised here. They all received an excellent K-12 education in ACSD #1. It is an honor to serve on the School Board. I enjoy representing our community while advocating for students and educators. I began my school board work with an appointment in 2004. I ran for election in 2006 and have had the privilege to serve since them. I am so appreciative of our outstanding district wide staff who work every day to provide excellent educational opportunities in safe, supportive schools.
Kim Sorenson
I taught in Thermopolis from 1980-94 where I met Rozanne Bothe, and we have been married for 43 years. Our two children both attended school in Laramie from Kindergarten through graduation. I have been extremely fortunate to have been the Principal of Velma Linford Elementary (5 years), and an Athletic Director/Assistant Principal (1 year) and the Principal of Laramie High School (14 years). I also taught at Laramie Community College. I was elected to the School Board in 2020, and I love serving the educational community of Albany County.
Alex Krassin
I've been on the board now for over a year and I'm grateful to be serving in this role. Outside of being a board member, I'm a mom of a preschooler and work at the University of Wyoming in the counseling center. I am a Wyoming Native from Fremont County and graduated from the University of Wyoming. Wyoming's outdoor spaces, especially the mountains, are where I spend most of my free time, and the small welcoming community here feels like the best place to raise my family.
Steve Gosar
Steve Gosar is a financial advisor with Edward Jones. His practice specializes in wealth management, business transition strategies and estate planning. Born in Pinedale, Wyoming, Steve graduated from the University of Wyoming. He and his wife Lu have three boys, Jacob, Jaxon and Jace.
Cecilia Aragon
Dr. Cecilia (CC) Aragón is a Full Professor at UW in the Department of Theatre and Dance, Latina/o Studies and is a Faculty Affiliate in the College of Education. She and her daughter love outdoors adventures and travelling. They have two rescue puppies, Bear, from Ft. Collins, and Ophelia May, from Pinedale, WY.
Emily Siegel-Stanton
Emily Siegel Stanton has had the honor to serve on the ACSD1 Board of Trustees since December 2020. She and her wife have a second grader in the district and enjoy seeing friends at school and community events. Emily also enjoys being outside as much as possible, skiing and sledding in the winter; camping, biking, hiking, and reading while her wife and son fish in the summer. Outside of school board, Emily is a mental health professional serving teens, individuals and couples in private practice.
